will help companies to ensure a more efficient management of chemicals and to substitute hazardous substances

10 new substances added to the Candidate List

By adding 10 new substances of very high concern (SVHCs) the Candidate List has grown to 191 different chemicals that may have serious effects on health or the environment.

Substances included in the Candidate List for authorisation on 27 June 2018 are Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane,  Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, Dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane, Lead, Disodium octaborate, Benzo[ghi]perylene, Terphenyl hydrogenated, Ethylenediamine (EDA), Benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid 1,2 anhydride (trimellitic anhydride) (TMA), Dicyclohexyl phthalate (DCHP).
Each of above mentioned substances has one or more hazardous properties, for example, lead is included in the List because it is toxic for reproduction, but Ethylenediamine (EDA) has respiratory sensitising properties.
The Candidate List is a list of substances that may have serious effects on human health or the environment. Substances on the Candidate List are also known as substances of very high concern and are candidates for eventual inclusion in the Authorisation List. Once they are on the Authorisation List, industry will need to apply for permission to continue using the substance after the sunset date.
