The national final events gathered more than 180 participants

To finish the project and inform stakeholders about the achievements of LIFE Fit for REACH the national final events took place in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Estonia

There were 34 participants, mainly companies and related associations, competent authorities and consultants at the Estonian national final event. The aim of the event was to introduce the results of the LIFE Fit for REACH project by giving an overview of the activities of the pilot and light case companies in Estonia, by presenting various materials and publications completed in the project that support the management of hazardous chemicals in companies and by discussing the project findings and policy recommendations. The feedback from the participants concluded that such projects are a big help for especially smaller companies and awareness raising and trainings regarding chemicals management are still needed and appreciated.

Latvia

The national final event was organized to share experience of companies which implemented substitution in the frame of the project. The event gathered more than 60 participants, mainly from different companies and state institutions.
The experience was presented by 5 companies in Latvia. Enterprises acknowledged several benefits of implementing the activities to reduce hazardous substances and agreed that both small and large companies can implement innovations successfully and enterprises are proud of the achieved results that can provide inspiration for other companies as well.
Project experts presented the main results achieved during the project, tools and materials elaborated for the companies and the general recommendations for the companies which are planning to implement substitution in future.
Participants of the seminar were also introduced to the recent changes in REACH Regulation and various funding programmes supporting innovations.

Lithuania

There were 85 participants at the event, mainly enterprises, consultants and some institutions. Project experts presented the approach how they worked with companies, what was done, the substitution steps, examples, environmental and socioeconomic impact, findings and recommendations, tools and publications. Participants asked how the work will be continued and confirmed that the experience was useful. Some expressed  commitment to identify substitution need in their companies.
